Foodies searching for the next guerilla chef love nothing more than finding a pop-up restaurant. Bargain hunters, likewise, hunt for pop-up retail shops. If you’re looking for stylish new clothes at a deep discount, you’re in luck. Tucked away in the West Loop at 1043 W. Madison Street is a designer pop-up, also known as a "flash sale.”

RE.STOCK is a no-frills storefront offering high-end contemporary clothing at wholesale (or lower) prices.

“We have overstock items at prices well below retail,” said Julie LaBarge, manager of RE.STOCK. “For example, we have Hickey-Freeman men’s clothes at a fraction of the cost of what you’d pay at Barney’s.”

LaBarge showed me a wool Hickey-Freeman sweater she sells for $50. She checked the regular retail price online and found it for more than $200. There are similar deals on women’s wear. You’ll find dresses and sweaters by Amy Matto, True Grit, Neon Buddha and Pure, all available at a deep discount.

“The only other place you’ll find Pure is Neiman-Marcus,” LaBarge said. The $50 price at RE.STOCK will likely be much higher on Michigan Avenue.

RE.STOCK will be open at West Madison at least through the holiday season, from noon to 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
