Jabbed with needle on 'L'

A 31-year-old Chicago woman riding the Red Line said a man sitting behind her jabbed a needle into her leg while she was riding the train near the Jackson stop at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.

The woman said when the man sat behind her, she felt someone tugging on her skirt and then felt a hand on her right leg. When she turned around she saw a man crouching in the seat behind her. When she turned around again she felt a sharp sticking sensation in her left rear leg and she saw that the man behind her had a needle in his hand.

She told police she jumped off the train at Chicago Avenue and got on another train and informed a CTA employee of what had happened at the Fullerton Avenue stop. The victim then went to the family doctor for treatment, according to police.

Woman molested on Red Line


Another woman said she was assaulted on a Red Line train Thursday, Dec. 6 while riding past the Harrison stop at 9:30 a.m.

The 27-year-old Chicago woman told police a man sat next to her on the train and placed his hand up her skirt as far as the inner thigh. When she yelled and struggled, he removed his hand and walked to the next car.

She told police other passengers viewed the incident but no one helped.

Man follows pedestrian to Congress Hotel, is arrested for assault


Police accused a Tinley Park man of assault after an incident between a motorist and a pedestrian Friday, Dec. 7 in the 500 block of South Michigan Ave.

The victim, a 51-year-old Chicago man, told police he was crossing Michigan Avenue using the crosswalk at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7 when a car entered the crosswalk and stopped, blocking the pedestrians.

The victim yelled at the car to back up and soon engaged in an argument with a passenger in the car, who police said got out of the car and started threatening the victim.

The suspect then followed the man to the Congress Hotel, still shouting threats, police said, before hotel security detained him for police.

Assaulted in parking garage

A 47-year-old Oak Park woman reported that a man tried to force her from her car Thursday, Dec. 6, while she was parked in a garage at 25 N. Michigan Ave.

The woman told police she was on the garage’s second level around 11 p.m. Dec. 6 when a man approached her and said he was a police officer and that she was too drunk to drive.

She said he later grabbed her shoulder as she sat in her car and tried to pull her out of the car but that she slammed the door on his arm several times before he released her. Police said she was then able to lock the door and he fled.

Teens caught stealing cellphone


Police captured three teenagers who allegedly took a cellphone from a 27-year-old Cicero woman on Saturday, Dec. 8 as she walked down the sidewalk at 50 E. Harrison St.

She told police that one boy grabbed her cellphone at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and two others blocked her from chasing him.

The phone was located by using an iPhone location app and the three boys, including one 15 and another 17, were spotted by police. Police arrested them along with Anton M. Williams, 18, of Riverdale, for robbery.

Philadelphia man punches hotel security guard


A 33-year-old man from Philadelphia was charged with battery after he allegedly struck a security guard in the face Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Wit Hotel, 201 N. State St.

Police said the man was following other guests and harassing them at 2:20 a.m. Dec. 9 and was told he had to leave. When a security guard entered an elevator to escort him from the building, the man allegedly struck him in the face.
