A 49-year-old Chicago man and his 28-year-old son were charged with aggravated assault with a handgun after the father allegedly pulled a gun on a 29-year-old Chicago woman and said “Say hello to my little friend” after a verbal altercation at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10, in the 1500 block of South Wabash Avenue.

Wallet cut from pocket

A 55-year-old Chicago man reported that he was grabbed from behind by a group of four-to-six males at 3:30 p.m. Monday May 14 in the 200 block of North Columbus Drive and had his pants pocket slit by a cutting instrument. The men took his money after it fell to the sidewalk from his pocket and then fled in an unknown direction The victim said he was leaving a nearby CVS Pharmacy when he was taken by surprise by the men who he described as both black and white, in their 20s, with some wearing hoodies.

Purse snatched

A 56-year-woman from Kenosha, Wisconsin reported that her purse was snatched at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20, after she draped it across a chair at a restaurant at 1 N. Michigan Avenue. The woman told police a man wearing a blue shirt and tan pants removed her purse from the chair, placed it in a tan shoulder bag and fled.

NATO protester arrests

While the Chicago Police department reported 90 arrests resulting from the protests surrounding the NATO Summit meeting last weekend, relatively few were handled at the First District Police headquarters at 18th and State streets. Chicago Police department spokesman Mike Sullivan said eight police officers were injured working during the NATO protests last weekend. He said he didn’t know how many protesters were injured.

Bank robbed in South Loop Jewel

The TCF bank located within the Jewel-Osco store at 1224 S. Wabash Ave. was reported robbed at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, May 12. A 22-year-old teller at the bank reported that a man was waiting at the TCF counter for assistance when she approached the counter. He then showed her a note handwritten on a piece of cardboard that said “Put all your money in the bag, I have a gun.” He then placed a plastic brown bag on the counter.

A naked prisoner escaped from his guard at the Mercy Hospital emergency room Tuesday, May 1, and was chased down South Michigan Avenue at 3:45 p.m. before being captured outside Rogers Auto group at 2720 S. Michigan Ave.

Ride home after being robbed

A 25-year-old Chicago man told police he was robbed on Friday, April 27 outside the Cactus Bar, 404 S. Wells St., by two men in a black Range Rover who eventually drove him home. The man told police he was at the bar with his girlfriend and first noticed the men in the Range Rover when he went outside to call a cab for his girlfriend to go home. He said he then went back in the bar to have a couple more drinks.
