Ready for retail

Huzzah! We finally have some stores in the Roosevelt Collection!

Or at least, some who say they’re coming soon. The mix of tenants sounds great to us — a mix of upscale businesses and cool restaurants.

We imagine they’ll fit right in. The ShowPlace Icon theater is constantly bustling and we’ve been left in the cold by sold-out movies several times. A couple of restaurants next to the theater should easily be able to capitalize off those disappointed moviegoers.

But just across the Chicago River, a new project is brewing with big potential. The Maxwell, as its developers are calling the project, is moving forward with plans to plant more promising shops in the middle of town. Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory — wonderful options, all.

We’re glad to see that the South Loop is once again starting to live up to its promise as a retail mecca. Though we may not be around to report on it, we’re looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
