New friend pulls fast one

A 35-year-old Chicago man said he was having a drink at Union Station, 430 W. Jackson Blvd., at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 when another man lured him outside where he and two others robbed him.

The victim told police the man struck up a conversation with him Nov. 9 in the Snuggery bar when he asked to use his cell phone. The two men then walked out together and had gone a block east on Jackson when the suspect was met by two friends.

The three men then forced the victim into an alley where he was struck with a handgun in the face and thrown to the ground. The thieves took his drivers license, credit cards, a MacBook pro, his cell phone, computer bag and keys. Police said the victim had lacerations on his face and a large bump on his head.

Family attacked leaving Blue Line

Three family members were attacked by a group of men who robbed them on a CTA platform Saturday, Nov. 10 and sent two to the hospital.

The three women — two 53-year-olds from Chicago and a 65-year-old woman from Berwyn — told police they were traveling on the Blue Line when they got off at the Clark/Lake station at 10:35 p.m. Nov. 10 to transfer to the Pink/Green Line when they were attacked by a group of men who physically assaulted them and took a wallet, two credit cards and $45. One of the 53-year-olds and the 65-year-old were transported to Northwestern Hospital.

Daylight robbery on Van Buren

Police arrested a 31-year-old Chicago man for robbery Saturday, Nov. 10 after he took an iPhone from a 38-year-old Chicago woman at 2:35 p.m. at in the first block of West Van Buren Street.

The woman told police she was walking east on Van Buren Street crossing Federal Street when the man appeared in front of her acting drunk and disoriented. As she walked around him, she told police she felt his hand inside her left jean pocket where she kept her iPhone.

He then yanked the iPhone from her pocket and ran across the street, chased by the victim who followed him northbound through an alley to Jackson, west on Jackson to Clark and then south on Clark before the suspect was grabbed by a Palos Park man, who held the suspect for police. Valdez M. Ware, 31, of the 400 block of South Cloud Street, was charged with strong-arm robbery.

Michigan man robbed at Greyhound station

A 22-year-old Michigan man reported that he was robbed by a man with a gun Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Greyhound bus station at 630 W. Harrison St.

The man told police he was approached while using the ATM machine at the station at 10 p.m. Nov. 10 and was told to withdraw $300 by a man who shoved a handgun at the victim’s waist.

The man then fled westbound on Harrison. The victim said the suspect also took his suitcase. Police said the victim was intoxicated and may not have been sure at what time the crime took place.

Criminal sex attack on Blue Line

A 33-year-old Chicago woman said she was fondled Monday, Nov. 12 as she boarded a Blue Line train at the Clark/Lake stop. The woman told police she was taking the train to O’Hare Airport at 5 p.m. Nov. 12 when two men used their hands to squeeze her buttocks. The men then exited at the stop and fled, police said. The woman told police that both suspects seemed to be around 45 years old.

Fight over bathroom nets no charges

A fight over the use of a restroom at a restaurant at 42 E. Adams St. Sunday, Nov. 11, ended with no arrests after the victim declined to press charges. Police said two men attempted to enter the restroom at the same time at about 3 p.m. Nov. 11 when one of the men, a 54-year-old Chicago resident, punched the other man in the face. The assailant then left the restaurant and returned later but the victim, a 53-year-old Chicago man, declined to press charges.
